چکیده

Light scattering measurements have been made on solutions of hyaluronic acid in the presence and absence of bovine serum albumin. The results are interpreted as showing an exclusion of bovine serum albumin from molecules of hyaluranic acid, the magnitude of which agrees with most other measurements of exclusion. The theory of the effect of heterogeneity of exclusion is given. The apparent heterogeneity that is observed is explained on statistical grounds. The results suggest that the main cause of exclusion is steric. No significant effect of bovine serum albumin on the configuration of the hyaluronic acid was observed.

Evaluation of Biocompatibility and Release Profile of Ginger Extract Loaded Hyaluronic Acid Nanocapsules for Medical Applications

Introduction: Ginger is a plant that is used as a drug for pain relieving and anti-inflammatory in traditional medicine, but conventional prescribing of it faces serious challenges. One way to overcome these problems is the loading of ginger extract in polymer carriers. The aim of this study was characterization and evaluation of the loading and releasing of ginger extract from hyaluronic acid ...

Towards Measurement of Polarization Properties of Skin using the Ellipsometry Technique

Introduction: The human skin is an active medium from the optical point of view. Therefore, the diagnostic and therapeutic techniques employing light are increasing. Current optical techniques are based on the measurement of the intensity of reflected absorbed or backscattered light from or within skin. Studies have shown that biological tissues, and in particular skin, demonstrate polarization...

PKCa Agonists Enhance the Protective Effect of Hyaluronic Acid on Nitric Oxide-Induced Apoptosis of Articular Chondrocytes in Vitro

Objective(s): Protein kinase C (PKCα) is involved in modulating articular chondrocytes apoptosis induced by nitric oxide (NO). Hyaluronic acid (HA) inhibits nitric oxide-induced apoptosis of articular chondrocytes by protecting PKCα, but the mechanism remains unclear. The present study was performed to investigate the effects and mechanisms of PKCα regulate protective effect of hya...

Molecular characterization of multivalent bioconjugates by size-exclusion chromatography with multiangle laser light scattering.

The degree of substitution and valency of bioconjugate reaction products are often poorly judged or require multiple time- and product-consuming chemical characterization methods. These aspects become critical when analyzing and optimizing the potency of costly polyvalent bioactive conjugates. In this study, size-exclusion chromatography with multiangle laser light scattering was paired with re...

Hydrodynamic characterisation of chemically degraded hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural macromolecule with importance in the pharmaceutical, medical and cosmetic industries. The knowledge of its hydrodynamic properties is fundamentally important for further study on its applications. The aim of our study was to investigate and provide hydrodynamic parameters for six different molar mass samples chemically produced by depolymerisation of a high mol...
